In order to help volunteers and victims of the earthquake and tsunami disasters in Palu and Donggala, the central government through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), instructed all mining companies to send rescue members to the disaster site.
No exception to PT Berau Coal (BC), the largest coal mining company in Berau Regency, has sent 10 members of the rescue team to Palu and Donggala, since last Saturday (9/29/2018). BC’s Rescue Team are trained and accustomed to overcome and evacuate various disasters.
BC’s Public Relations Manager, Arif Hadianto explained, that all mining companies have special teams that have been trained to cope with disasters especially disasters at mining sites.
This capability was used by the PT Berau Coal rescue team to help evacuate victims in Palu and Donggala.
“They are still on duty there, they always routinely report the movement and development of the situation there. Their last position is still in Palu,” he said.
“They have the ability to overcome and evacuate victims affected by the rubble. They have also been trained to provide medical treatment at an early stage, “explained Arif.
Arif hopes that the existence of the PT Berau Coal rescue team can be used optimally to evacuate the victims of the earthquake and tsunami disaster.
